Profiles of Success
Andy Albright
Burlington, NCConsidering his meteoric success some might find it odd that the CEO of NAA lives in the same farmhouse where he grew up as a boy. In truth, it shows that despite Andy's rise to success, he never forgot his roots. He remains a down-to-earth person who treasures family, integrity and commitment. The road to success wasn't an easy one, but he and his loving wife Jane overcame both financial struggles and illness to be where they are today.
During his childhood, Andy made an honest day's living working in the tobacco fields of his North Carolina farm. Like any boy, he enjoyed playing baseball and showed a competitive spirit early in life. He never stopped dreaming of when or how he could improve his circumstances. Instead of pursuing professional sports, Andy believed that education was the key to making it big and attended NC State University to earn a degree in textile sciences.
The next 11 years of his life were spent honing his ability to lead at various textile companies. These included Burlington Industries, Allied Signal, and Glen Raven Mills. During this period, Andy also married his childhood sweetheart, Jane. It seemed the couple would have a calm and uneventful life in Union Ridge, but everything changed when Jane fell ill and was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease. Because of their financial standings, Jane continued to work regularly as a teacher, even during chemotherapy treatment. It was a painful time for the two, but they endured with support from each other and their belief in God.
Andy became determined to save his wife from the financial and medical difficulties. Philip Hudgins, gave him a way out of their struggles by introducing him to his life insurance-based business. Andy could tell that Philips' sales system was revolutionary, and the two, along with the business-smart Barry Clarkson, co-founded NAA in 2002. Gathering employees and agents with integrity and vision, the trio set out to grow a company that would last for years. NAA has grown from a small business venture in Andy's basement to a company with over 150 employers serving over 5,000 agents nationwide.
Life has changed for Andy and his family. They regularly go to restaurants, ordering food without a glance at the price. NAA has afforded him and many others the opportunity to take control of their lives. One can be their own boss, choose their own work hours, and decide how much they want to make. Andy encourages all members of NAA to "Have fun, make money, and eat good!"
But anyone who thinks Andy's settled down is wrong: "I've never prayed for patience, and I don't anticipate I ever will." Andy credits his constant pursuit of personal and professional improvement as the reason for his continued success. He plans to lead NAA over the $1-billion mark and ultimately convert it to a fully-fledged insurance company. For those that are looking to follow in his footsteps, Andy highly encourages new agents to read, read, and read after that. He facilitates reading within NAA by donating free books from his own reading list to employees monthly. Andy and his wife Jane still reside in the Burlington suburb, but now with the addition of son Spencer, daughter Haleigh, three dogs, and a family pond filled with koi fish.
