After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Textile Engineering from Auburn University, Mark worked as both a car salesman and in textiles. Pulling double shifts wasn't paying off and Mark began to become frustrated and exhausted by his workload. "I was selling cars and probably working 70 plus hours a week." He found a better opportunity at a business that the newly founded NAA. Mark's wife Trish was apprehensive at first when he told her of his plans to sell insurance; she was concerned that by working "commission only", they would have no guaranteed income. How life has changed! Now Trish works in the office with her husband.
Mark didn't have to travel far to find success with NAA; his agency is based in Alabama, the state he was born and raised in. Despite staying local, his agency regularly appears on both the recruiting and production leader boards.
Because he joined NAA in the early years, Mark has a unique insight to the leadership at the company. He devotedly trusts that the founders and managers wish to see everyone around them succeed. Mark says that you only need to ask to get quality guidance: "Phillip, Barry, and Andy take the time to listen to you and help resolve any problems that arise or just give you a mental boost if you need it."
According to Mark the key to success at NAA is to keep a positive attitude; too many people are discouraged at initial hardship and forfeit success because of it. Also, he encourages his team to attend the NAA National Convention and "TAKE YOUR SPOUSE!" There are plenty of husband and wife teams waiting to burst on to the scene at NAA, and some that already have. He and Trish are proof that working together can strengthen the business and help carry it to new levels of success.
One of the couple's greatest achievements was building their own agency from the ground up. In doing so, they have met and befriended great people who aren't simply 'in their downline.' Mark says," The employees in our office are good friends that we never would have met if it wasn't for NAA."
Despite his current success and bright future, Mark never forgets the position he was in at his past jobs. "Even if things don't go my way, I am still better off than I was before." He considers himself very blessed that, through NAA, he's found great agents, office staff and "people who share similar goals and dreams."
Mark and Trish are "enjoying the lifestyle that Phillip, Barry, and Andy told us we would have when NAA was first started." They like to spend their ample time off "just about anywhere that is warm and has water". The two enjoy boating as well as cutting up water on their Wave Runners. As to what the future holds for their family, Mark remains optimistic. After spending several years at NAA, he's learned not to make overly-specific goals: "NAA constantly has new major opportunities that I have to re-evaluate and end up raising my goals within 3 months of setting them. The growth factor is unbelievable!!!" We're certain to hear more from this power couple!
